NEW WORK - Added November 4, 2010
Acrylic painting on 30” x 30” x 2” triple primed canvas. I titled this work “People in High Places II”.
Matisse structured acrylics along with SoHo acrylics were used in this contemporary and colorful artwork using hues of red, blue, green, and gold with different shades inbetween.
Welcome to my world of original, vibrant and whimsical acrylic paintings plus my watercolor & ink sketches. My main focus is art for children’s walls, dog lovers and contemporary pieces for home or office. All subject matter fascinates me and this leads to a great variety of acrylic works however my watercolor sketches lean mostly to the lives of RV travelers. This is a medium I can bring along with me while we travel in our motorhome.
My favorite acrylics are Matisse structured acrylics and I’ve recently added SoHo acrylics. Matisse structured acrylics retain brush strokes for added texture and I love their unusual colors. I use Derwent Watercolors for my Plein-Aire , illustration type watercolor and ink pen sketches.
Overall my work is bold and colorful with texture. I rarely have a preconceived notion as to where I’m going in any given painting. My paintings just evolve until I’m completely satisfied. I’m not into realism as I left a very long photography career a few years ago to pursue painting however I do use my photographs sometimes as a jumping off point for inspiration.
If you live locally, a selection of original artwork is on view at S & S Framing located in Donelson, Tennessee and prints from a selection of my original paintings, watercolor sketches and photography may be purchased through Red Bubble.
